If a site, or specific page, has a lot of backlinks pointing to it, Google then sees this page or site as credible. This is only true, though, if those backlinks are coming from quality, reputable sources, and it¡Çs even better when those sites are relevant to your site. If Google and the rest of the search engines trust you and they respect the content you produce, you¡Çll climb the search rankings. There¡Çs no shortcut to ranking on the first few pages of the search results. Search engines don¡Çt trust your website at first. You have to earn their trust – and it¡Çs a slow process. It seems like content should be engineered for an outcome. If you just start with an article and then ask yourself how to get traction to this everywhere, that doesn¡Çt always work. Undoubtedly, mobile SEO is distinct from its desktop counterpart in significant – sometimes very subtle – ways. As mobile usage continues to grow, user behaviors and expectations change too. Simply resizing the desktop site for a smaller screen won¡Çt do. When launching a new website that replaces a previous version, use 301 Redirects to tell the search engines that your pages have moved. Doing so will retain your hard-earned Google Page Rank and your search engine positioning should stay more or less intact. If you do not use 301 Redirects when launching a new/replacement site, search engines will still have your old pages contained in their index, and both search engines and visitors seeking out your content will encounter broken pages when they try to visit your site. This will result in lots of 404 Page Not Found errors. When this happens, your search engine rankings will most likely drop. Broken Internal and External Links Every ¡Èvote¡É or link to your site helps determine the value of your site. However, it¡Çs not just the sheer number of links your website gets. Sites that aren¡Çt optimized for user intent and mobile SEO will fail.

I'm a Freelance SEO Consultant giving SEO advice to anyone who wants to know how SEO can benefit their marketing strategy. I look at such things as how Google determines the quality of your webpage and how Link building benefits search engine optimisation too. I will advise you how to write catchy SEO friendly headlines and how to diversify anchor text too. I have created an offsite seo beginners guide and an onsite seo beginners guide too.

Back in 2011, you could use blog commenting to get 200 backlinks and quickly skyrocket your rankings on search engines. But, in today¡Çs algorithm for search engines, the focus is on quality over quantity. When you link to a webpage, you¡Çre proclaiming that you trust that content as a resource – so your brand is on the line. The text of the link helps provide Google additional context about the topic of the linked page, i.e. what keywords that page should rank for. So links that contain keywords related to what you sell or where you¡Çre located – and even links for your brand name – are going to help you rank. Improve your visibility in organic search results SEO is about providing value, not tricking search engines into ranking you higher. SEO has tremendously grown over the past few years and search engines are getting smarter and smarter. Staying on top of the current updates and changes is thus crucial in deepening your knowledge of how to take advantage of it. Recognizing intent will allow you to improve keyword selection decisions and better serve your target audience. You can read an onsite SEO beginners guide here. Use the rel=nofollow tag in the links to websites that you do not trust, you think maybe using spamming techniques or you do not want to help in the search engines. Keywords should be relevant. This means your site should be a satisfactory destination for users. Understanding the rationale behind backlinks We asked an SEO Specialist, Gaz Hall, for his thoughts on the matter: "SEO measures can take some time and effort. But what is the point in investing time and effort if you cannot see the fruits of your labor? Luckily, there are numerous metrics that you can check on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis in order to keep your SEO plan on track and to measure your success." Local SEO refers to making a company's website more visible on maps and in local-oriented searches, often for people seeking a brick and mortar store or a services based business that serves their area.

You may ask what is seo? It can be quite difficult to explain. It covers such areas as backlink indexing, keyword research using free tools. There are lots of intricacies involved with SEO too, such as long tail search and local search too.

Sometimes, your site will need some downtime, so you can fix things or update plugins. Most of the time, this tends to be a relatively short period in which Google will most likely not attempt to crawl your website. Google will send people looking for information on a topic to the highest quality, relevant pages it has in its database. f your site is linked to from other well ranking sites they consider your site to be important too. Don¡Çt pay for links from other sites or do link exchanges as Google is wise to this and can penalise you for it. Instead give people a reason to write about you (competitions, great content people will want to share, brilliant offers, interesting news etc). Ensure your images are SEO-optimised Search engines like unique content and content that is updated on a regular basis. That¡Çs one reason blogs tend to get indexed more quickly: they¡Çre being frequently updated (which is also a good reason to build your business site on a blog platform).

The focus on the right audience and the right content brings an understanding of the content that they¡Çre more likely to consume. Use heading tags where it makes sense. Too many heading tags on a page can make it hard for users to scan the content and determine where one topic ends and another begins. Have you ever monitored the viewing pattern of people visiting your website? This is the pattern in which people view, in this case, websites. Don ¡Çt keyword stuff – write naturally using synonyms, relevant terms and lots of nouns Build a brand and focus on consistent quality. Make sure you know exactly who you will target with your content Remember, there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to optimization strategies. For the most part, you¡Çll be relying on trial and error to pinpoint what works and what doesn¡Çt for your brand. Use it before it ceases to be an enabler of competitive advantage. Staying on top of SEO takes a lot of research and experimentation. Google¡Çs algorithms are constantly updated so it¡Çs important to stay tuned into the latest news. With this in mind, and a bit of practice, you can become your own SEO expert. Visual content has become very popular on the internet due to our own ability to process an image faster than any written text. This wins the first impression and it can be very powerful within the context of a page. Google is constantly evolving to better understand the context and intent of user behaviour.
